Advice for renovation of three airports on the Caribbean Netherlands

Tauw will be providing advice on the renovation of three airports on the Caribbean Netherlands (the BES islands). Since the establishment of new constitutional relations between the Netherlands and its Caribbean territories in October 2010, the airports of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba have failed to comply with Dutch laws and regulations.

The runway, taxiway and apron will be renovated and the control tower in Bonaire will be replaced. In addition, airport lighting will be adjusted and the grounds will be redeveloped at all airports. All this will be done while the airports remain almost fully operational.

Tauw will be providing advice in a number of disciplines:

   - Work preparation
   - Systems engineering
   - Risk management
   - Overall safety
   - Calamity management
   - Rainwater storage and drainage
   - Civil development
   - Cables and ducts
   - Process support to subcontractors (SE)

Tauw was commissioned by the contractor Van Boekel Zeeland. This contractor bid for the D&C contract which was issued by Rijkswaterstaat (RWS).
