Syntraal is an independently operating business company of TAUW. It not only focusses on interim issues in the government, the business and the start-up world, but often goes a step further as an incubator for starting entrepreneurs acting as an accelerator for young companies that want to create an impact for a more beautiful, sustainable and safer living environment. By offering professionals and services such as housing and access to financiers and networks, Syntraal removes obstacles that hinder growth or development of companies it believes in.
Through Syntraal, TAUW is now connected to several great initiatives. Two of them – Samen voor het Spoor and AquaBase – celebrated a significant milestone in 2021.
100.000 m2 of water-buffering road foundations
Aquabase is making progress! And we've been doing so for five years now. In November we celebrated our first anniversary as a company. What began as a start-up has now grown into one of the market leaders for the sustainable construction of water-buffering road foundations in the Netherlands.
As Syntraal, and 33% shareholder, we’ve been involved from the beginning and are very proud of this success. The mission of AquaBASE that was created at the start, still exists today: to make a feasible sustainable contribution to a climate-adaptive and water-robust design of public space.
Over the past five years, this has translated into almost 100,000 m2 of water-buffering road foundations throughout the country. From the runway at Schiphol to roads in residential areas. Outside of the Netherlands, as well, we have been able to build the first water-buffering roads.
Syntraal is the water management partner within AquaBASE and the collaboration goes further than sharing knowledge. Syntraal works from the vision of synergy. Together we can accomplish more than alone. Creating partnerships based on equality creates the best innovations. AquaBASE is the prime example of this.
More than 250 professionals at work for Dutch Railway
For almost 4 years, Samen voor het Spoor (Together for Dutch Railway) has been the broker for the Dutch Railway for the temporary hiring of technical staff and is responsible for all contract negotiations. In 2021 we placed the 250th professional at ProRail, a major achievement that demonstrates the added value of the cooperation and solidifies our place as the largest contract partner for hiring of technical staff.
We supply enthusiastic technical professionals with an affinity for the railroads, stations, safety, ERTMS or catenaries.
Samen voor het Spoor works with about sixty suppliers such as engineering firms and nearly one hundred independent professionals able to quickly supply the right people, because ProRail is on 24 hours a day.
