Privacy statement

With this privacy statement, TAUW Group B.V. and its Dutch subsidiary TAUW B.V.  (hereinafter referred to as "TAUW" or "we") want to inform you what personal data we collect, why we collect it and what we use it for TAUW respects your privacy and ensures that the personal data held by TAUW is handled carefully and in accordance with applicable legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter referred to as the "GDPR"). This privacy statement only relates to the processing operations for which TAUW is the so-called data controller. This privacy statement does not apply to the use of your personal data by websites that are not operated by TAUW, even if links to these websites are provided on our websites.

TAUW is a European consultancy and engineering firm with a strong foothold in environmental consultancy and sustainable development of living environments. It employs over 1200 people in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, who all work together to ensure attractive, clean, safe and sustainable living environments. In that capacity, TAUW processes personal data of its website visitors, clients and potential clients, as well as their contact persons, contractors, suppliers, customers, applicants and other relations. We obtain your data because you provide it to us yourself or because it is provided to us by third parties (such as our clients, contractors, customers or suppliers). 

What personal data does TAUW process?

Personal data is all data that can be used to directly or indirectly identify someone. TAUW processes the following personal data:

  • First and last name;
  • Email address;
  • Telephone number;
  • The company where you work and your position;
  • IP address;
  • Information about your use of our website;
  • Information you enter into our forms on the website;
  • Personal data stated on your application documents;
  • Other information provided to us.

It depends on the situation which personal data TAUW processes.

For what purposes does TAUW process personal data?

Under the GDPR, personal data may only be processed for specific purposes. TAUW processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Marketing and acquisition purposes:
    If you have given permission for this, we will use your personal data to send our newsletter. In addition, we process your personal data if you have given permission to TAUW to, for example, contact you about our themes, services, projects, online and physical events, whitepapers and blogs or if you have approached TAUW for a quote or a project;
  • Execution of an agreement:
    We process personal data to execute the agreements we have concluded;
  • Complying with legal obligations:
    We process personal data in order to comply with legal obligations, such as providing information to the tax authorities; 
  • Security purposes:
    We keep a list of visitors to our business premises to prevent unauthorised persons from entering our buildings and to handle calamities properly (for example in the event of a fire).
  • Processing applications:
    We process the data we receive from you in connection with your application so that we can process your application and contact you. 
  • Improving our website and advertising and personalisation purposes:
    We use cookies to improve our website. If you give permission, we also place cookies for advertising and personalisation purposes.

On what legal basis do we rely?

We may only process your data if we can rely on one or more legal bases that are included in the GDPR. The legal bases on which we rely for our data processing are: 

  • Consent;
  • Performance of an agreement;
  • Legitimate interest;
  • Complying with a legal obligation.

For how long do we keep your personal information?

In principle, your personal data will not be kept longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data was collected and processed. However, if we are legally obliged to keep the data for a longer period, we will keep the personal data in accordance with the statutory period.

How do we protect your personal data?

TAUW has taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure careful processing of your personal data.

When do we provide personal data to third parties?

TAUW will only provide your personal data to third parties insofar as this is related to the purposes set out in this privacy statement. Parties with whom we may share your data are:

  • Clients and subcontractors;
  • Government agencies;
  • External suppliers of TAUW such as IT service providers, hosting and cloud service providers;
  • External service providers, such as law firms and accountants.

If a third party qualifies as a processor within the meaning of the GDPR, TAUW will enter into a processing agreement with the relevant party.

What are your rights?

The GDPR states that you have several privacy rights. You have the right to inspect the personal data that we process about you. If the information is incorrect, you can request us to correct this information. In some cases you can also ask us to delete, transfer or restrict the processing of your data. Finally, you can object to the processing of your data.

You can submit a request for access, correction, removal, transfer and restriction of the processing of your data by sending an email to privacy@tauw.com. We will make every effort to respond to your request within four weeks. 

Unsubscribe from newsletter and withdraw consent

If you no longer wish to receive a newsletter from TAUW, you can unsubscribe by using the "opt-out option" in the newsletter or by sending an email to privacy@tauw.com

In addition, insofar as the processing of your personal data is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw this consent. If you wish to withdraw your consent, please send an email to privacy@tauw.com.

Where can you send complaints?

We would like to point out that if you have a complaint about the way in which TAUW processes your personal data, you can submit it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority. Of course we hope that you will first submit your complaint to TAUW, so that we can look for a solution together. You can send an email to privacy@tauw.com for this.

This privacy statement may change from time to time. We recommend that you consult this privacy statement regularly, so that you are aware of any changes.
