Since 1996 Tauw is involved in the solution of a soil contamination at an AkzoNobel site in Wloclawek, Poland.
After preliminary investigation of hydrogeology and soil contamination, remediation efforts were started and extended in the period 1998-2009. After a beneficial remediation period within which easily available free product was recovered from the soil, an innovative remediation system is being implemented with a challenging and yet feasible target in order to complete the restoration and meet the requirements of AkzoNobels HSE Standards. Tauw carries out the management and verification of this soil remediation. The contractor is ready now to start up the system. During a period of about 5 years remediation targets should be met.
