In this 4-hour module, participants will receive an intensive crash-course on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and their implications for both human health and the environment. The module covers a wide range of topics, including an introduction to the Stockholm and Basel Conventions, an explanation of various types of POP pesticides, PCBs (Polychlorinated Biphenyls), New Industrial POPs, and Unintentional POPs. The session culminates with a discussion on the fate of POPs in the environment and the essential actions necessary for effective clean-up and management of contaminated sites. Designed as an ideal (online) introductory course, this module is specifically tailored to cater to a diverse group of stakeholders with limited or no prior knowledge of the subject matter.

Designed to equip technical professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills for future clean-up initiatives targeting Obsolete and POP pesticides, this 4-hour Module can be delivered both online and in a classroom setting. The course covers a range of vital topics, including a detailed overview of POPs and Obsolete Pesticides, effective inventory management techniques, safe repacking procedures, considerations for (interim) storage of stocks, health and safety protocols, and the crucial processes of export and destruction of stocks. Tailored specifically for professionals involved in the management of upcoming POPs and Obsolete Pesticide disposal projects, this course provides essential insights and practical guidance.

This 4-hour training program goes deeper into POPs, PCB, and Mercury Contaminated Site Management. Following a succinct introduction to the pertinent conventions, the training commences with the five phases of contaminated site management. These encompass preliminary assessment methodologies, inventory of contaminated sites, the development of conceptual site models. Tailored to meet the needs of technical professionals, this course provides a valuable opportunity to enhance expertise and proficiency in the field of contaminated site management.

This comprehensive 4-hour follow-up training module, building upon the foundations of Module 3, offers participants an opportunity to delve deeper into the complexities of Contaminated Site Management. The training encompasses a live practical exercise focusing on Conceptual Site Modelling, alongside informative classroom demonstrations that showcase various tools and equipment. Moreover, participants will gain invaluable insights in the implementation of site remediation strategies, and the considerations for post-remediation aftercare. Designed to cater to the needs of both field and operational office staff, this module provides a platform for enhanced understanding and proficiency in the realm of Contaminated Site Management.

The course covers a range of vital topics, including potential hazards of PCBs, PCB identification and monitoring and phase out and packaging of PCB containing equipment. Tailored specifically for professionals involved in the management of upcoming PCB disposal projects, this course provides essential insights and practical guidance.

In this module, we will provide a comprehensive overview of the necessary actions and protocols required for addressing mercury contamination in industrial sites, including former chlor-alkali, wood preservation, and PVC production facilities. The module covers essential training on various aspects, such as the assessment of mercury impacted building materials using XRF technology, the investigation of mercury in soil and groundwater, and the implementation of effective remediation techniques for soil and groundwater, including thermal techniques and immobilization methods. This module is specifically designed to cater to the needs of field and operational office staff involved in the recommissioning and redevelopment of industrial sites. Gain the expertise and knowledge required to effectively manage mercury impacted industrial sites with this specialized training module.

Explore the technical aspects of Health, Safety, and Environmental considerations for POPs, PCB, and Mercury clean-up and remediation projects with this comprehensive course. Designed to provide field staff with the necessary knowledge and skills, the training covers essential topics such as proper utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), environmentally friendly site management practices, and the establishment of effective environmental monitoring protocols. Please note that this module cannot be taught online and is highly recommended to be combined with practical field training exercises. It is specifically recommended to undertake this training if a POPs, Mercury, or Contaminated site clean-up project is imminent within a short timeframe (within 6 months).

Equip field staff with the necessary skills to conduct sampling and analysis in the field with this comprehensive 4-hour training. The course focuses on the proper techniques for collecting soil, groundwater, ambient air, and surface water samples for POPs, PCBs, and Mercury. This practical training takes place at a designated site, where participants will learn the correct sampling procedures and ensure a clean working environment. Additionally, staff members have the option to receive training on the use of XRF equipment. Please note that this module cannot be taught online and is highly recommended to be combined with Module 4 for a comprehensive training experience.

Soil as Natural Capital’ (SaNC) is a concept that recognizes the value of soil as a vital resource for ecosystems and human well-being. During this module we will go into the concept of soil as Natural Capital, describe how this is integrated into new policy development and how a vital soil can be created/maintained. This training is recommended for farmer organizations, soil scientists and authorities involved with agricultural and natural soil health.

The professional use of drones for collecting actionable fieldwork data is on the rise. Drone-based measurements enhance efficiency and safety while improving the quality, flexibility, and relevance of survey-grade data. This multi-day course offers an advanced introduction to aerial data collection through drones, focusing on photogrammetry and LiDAR based techniques. Depending on your experience level and training goals, the course can be customized to include one or more interrelated modules. Each module is led by highly experienced experts and covers essential topics such as aerial mission planning and risk analysis, flight and sensor parameter optimization, and on-site fieldwork methodologies.
